Transport

Students travel to Covenant from a broad area around Sydney including the Northern Beaches, North Shore and other areas of Sydney.

Forest Coach Lines provide most school buses on the Northern Beaches and to Chatswood, Gordon and Pymble train stations. For Forest bus timetables relating to Covenant click here.

Transdev NSW provides buses to Hornsby, Wahroonga and West Ryde train stations. For Transdev bus timetables relating to Covenant click here.

For transportation options before and after school via government buses (run locally by Keolis Downer Buses), visit the Transport NSW website.

Detailed transport information, including school bus routes that service Covenant Christian School, can be found on the Transport NSW website or by calling 131 500.

Important information:

  • All transport options and timetables (including school buses) are determined by the NSW Government.
  • The bus routes, to and from Covenant Christian School, may have general members of the public catching them. These bus routes are not run by our school but are provided by the government and run by private bus companies such as Forest Coach Lines and Transdev NSW.
  • Please remember your child must tap on and tap off using their School Opal Card when travelling to and from school. The captured data is reviewed by Transport NSW to assess passenger numbers and route demand.

Bus Supervision

Each school bus will usually have a student bus supervisor who can keep an eye out for younger students' wellbeing and safety while travelling on school buses. These senior students are selected by Covenant staff.

Each afternoon, school buses depart from the school car park (Dell Street entrance) or from the Forest Way pedestrian entrance (near the school oval). Students are supervised by staff as they arrive on buses each morning and are assisted as they board the buses at each location in the afternoon.

School Opal Card

School students may apply online for a School Opal Card. The card gives eligible students free travel between home and school on the approved train, bus or ferry service. Students will be required to ‘Tap On and Off’ when travelling to and from school. The captured data ensures the transport route is eligible for travel between the student's home and school, and is reviewed by Transport NSW to assess passenger numbers and route demand.

Applications are to be completed online on the Transport NSW website. Go to Apply for a School Opal Card. From this page, you can also apply for a replacement card for lost, damaged or stolen cards, and update your personal details.

Important information:

  • School Opal Cards are deactivated for use on weekends and during school holidays.
  • Should students need to travel to any other location other than home, they will be required to use a Child/Youth Opal Card.
  • Most Temporary Residents (e.g. 457 visa) and International Students (500 visa) are not eligible for a School Opal card.

Applications for student travel in 2022 opened at the beginning of Term 4, 2021.
