"Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." John 6:35 (NIV)
Praise God that Jesus satisfies our souls!
We believe our God is powerful and that he invites us to bring our requests before him in prayer. Please join us in praying for our school and community this week:
Prayer Group meets on Thursdays 9.00-9.30am, in T9. All welcome. Please email us at prayergroup@covenant.nsw.edu.au if you would like us to pray for you.
Samantha Glassock (Head of Secondary School) chats with students from Year 7 and 9 following the launch of the new Secondary Laptop Program.
At times, life can be tricky. We may find ourselves stuck in a rut for prolonged times or finding certain moments particularly difficult to deal with.
On behalf of the Counselling team here at Covenant, we would like to wish a warm welcome to our community! Our role here is to provide support and encouragement for all students and families, especially those who may be finding things not easy.
We think of our role as that of helping and assisting students during their time at school; whether it be strengthening social skills and networks, helping with time management, liaising with other students or staff on their behalf, listening to concerns about friends or difficulties that a student is facing. We appreciate that seeing a school counsellor sometimes may have a stigma attached to it and it is important for you to know that our aim is to help equip your children in their wellbeing journey, both here and beyond school.
If you would like to make an appointment with us, parents with children in Junior School are encouraged to either contact their teacher or speak with us if you have any concerns. We can then follow up students individually and give you feedback, or we may offer suggestions/strategies that can be tried at home or in the classroom. Students in Secondary School can be referred by a teacher, parent or self-refer. If you have concerns, please feel free to contact us so we can talk things through and work out the best way forward. There are times when the best option for a student may be seeing someone outside of school, in which case we are able to provide recommendations.
Our wonderful team of counsellors consists of (pictured L to R):
We can be contacted through the email: counsellors@covenant.nsw.edu.au.
We see it as a privilege to support families at Covenant and look forward to hearing from you!

The Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is an initiative of the NSW State Government which aims to encourage in students a love of reading for leisure and pleasure, and to enable students to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.
PRC runs from 26 February to 23 August 2024, however students can keep a record of books they are reading now to include in their 2024 reading records when the online reading records open.
Students who wish to participate must write their name and class on a list found in the Junior School library by Monday 26 February, 2024. The school will then register the students in the challenge if they haven’t already registered online.
PRC is divided into four groups: Kindergarten to Year 2, Year 3-4, Year 5-6 and Year 7-9. For more details of the challenge refer to the website www.online.det.nsw.edu.au or pick up information from the Junior School library. Please note, all reading records need to be validated by Thursday 15 August.
Students who complete the challenge for four years will receive a Gold Award. Students who have participated for seven years receive a Platinum Award. Students who have participated for nine years receive a medal.
Students who complete the challenge each year from Year 3 to Year 9 inclusive receive a PRC medal.
If you are new to Covenant and have participated in the PRC at your previous school, please let me know. Write your previous school next to your name when you register. I can then ask the PRC administrators to link your records.

As a parent, you are an integral part of our school community, and we encourage all parents to be involved in the life of our school.
The Parent Involvement Program (PIP) gives parents the opportunity to enjoy a hands-on role in the education of their children. It also helps our school to maintain its high standards and provides opportunities for community engagement as you meet with other parents.
For more information on Parent Involvement Program (PIP) please go to Parent Resources. All volunteers must have a valid Working with Children Check and submitted a Volunteers Code of Conduct form to the School Office in order to assist.
Here are some of the ways you can help support our school:
We are looking for parent helpers to assist in running our literacy-based program called MULTILIT on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings before school. We aim to begin around 8.20am and will train you to support the children completing the program.
It will be a great PIP hours opportunity too!
If you are able to help for one or more mornings, please email admin@covenant.nsw.edu.au, and they will pass your details on to the relevant staff.
We urgently need parent helpers for our school canteen in Term 1.
All canteen shifts start at 9.00am and finish at 1.00pm. Lunch is provided!
The job involves labelling order bags, packing orders and doing some simple cleaning.
If you are able to support the school by contributing PIP hours, please email Tam Khong, Canteen Manager: tamkhong@live.com.
